Kit plans, the Universe laughs!

::SIGH::

So you know my fabulous plan - the one wherein I was going to take you through the process of making my piece over the course of two or possibly three weeks? The piece that I have been working on feverishly to meet today's deadline (and which is still not done but will have to do?) You know, THAT plan?

Well, after never having dropped my or any other laptop in all my years of exposure to laptops, I dropped mine TWICE in 24 hours and now it's deader than a door nail. Won't even turn on! I'm using my old one so that's fine (although it took nearly 72 hours to update!!!); but of course, six weeks of process photos are gone.

SO.  New plan is - I'll show you some cropped shots of the finished piece today and through next week - and the finished piece NEXT Friday and I'll talk to you a bit about the process as I go along.

New plan... do you hear that laughing in the background, or is that just me?

;)

  2. Hi, Kit. Sorry to hear about the laptop--I have nightmares along those lines, probably because half my life is contained within that magical box. This is a very interesting piece and I LUV how you constructed the tree trunk. Waiting to see more and good luck.

Oh Dear:( Oh well. I do like this piece, especially the way you have done your tree trunk, leaves, grass and flowers.

  4. Oh, no! Poor, poor laptop. Have you already asked a computer guru if the info could be rescued from the hard drive somehow? They have magic ways that mystify and confuse me!

  5. Hate it about the laptop...I'm sure a tech can rescue all your data (once he hacks it open and yanks the hard drive out of the steaming carcass). I hate to tell you that this sneak peak is a perfect and delightful composition and hope you don't have to hack it out of a greater whole...waiting patiently, (and clutching my only laptop obsessively)

  6. The same thing happened to me last week. I had never dropped this laptop before. Fortunately, it is not dead and I had saved everything of importance on one of those external sticks. (you might want to get one of those) But it is messed up and will have to go into the shop. Just hang in there. This too shall pass. Elephants never forget, you know. lol

    1. Judy, luckily I had just loaded all my files to a stick last week so it was only four days work (except for those process photos which I never keep after I've posted them here) so it wasn't very painful at all - except for the loss of little Baby Belle as I called her. I've been wanting a new toy though, so maybe this is the Universe's way of giving me what I want! lol

  7. I am sorry for your setback. At least the desirable photo files were saved. Which reminds me I should back up my photos to a stick. I look forward to your in process journey on the next piece. Love the elephant!

  8. Ohhh noooo! Dropped-dead computer is bad. Adorable elephant in a richly colored and textured jungle is wonderful consolation, no?

  9. Murphy's Law at work. The laughing in the background wasn't me, although I confess to a bit of a giggle thinking about 'the best laid plans of mice and men........' I love the piece, and I'm still in love with the little 'jonquils'

  11. I love the way you created the tree trunk. Sorry about your laptop. I had laptop issues in July so I can sympathize.

  12. Hopefully you will find someone who can retrieve files from the hard drive. Though I have never dropped one, I have had several dye on me and have managed that a couple of times, but it takes someone who knows what they are doing.

Anyway, best laid plans etc. Mine have also gone to pot, but just due to 'day job' which has sucked me dry this week.

  13. Oh Kit. I feel your pain. My BSP spilled a cup on coffee on MY NEW laptop of about a month. Grrrrr. BTW, I have also heard the laughter!!

  15. Oh Kit, that's terrible! I can only imagine how frustrated you are. Funny, I got Lightroom a couple of weeks ago and decided as I was organizing all my archived photos that I would now store all my images on an external hard drive. Hopefully I don't drop my laptop, but if I do at least I'll have the images.

I haven't left a message lately, but I've been admiring your work. I'm loving this elephant piece!
